Crafted from Nature

Our materials are carefully selected to reflect both sustainability and craftsmanship. We work with PEFC-certified birch plywood sourced from responsibly managed Finnish forests. In the Signature series and the Verna series, wooden components are water-cut rather than laser-cut, which avoids dark edges and creates clean, precise cuts that preserve the natural texture of the wood. In the Signature series, the individual parts fit together like a puzzle creating the geometric lampshades.

Both Pioni and Daisy from the Blossom collection are made from large, thin plywood sheets, either 0.4 mm or 0.8 mm thin. Each sheet is precisely die-cut, making it easy to bend and shape the lamps.

Colors & Finishes

The plywood used in our lampshades is available in various colors and finishes. Natural birch remains untreated to preserve its character, white surfaces are spray-coated to create an even appearance. Brown and black finishes are applied after assembly by dipping the lamps into large containers, producing a stained effect that allows the wood grain to remain visible. Pioni is available in birch, white, and black, while Daisy comes only in birch. The white and black sheets are painted before being die-cut and assembled.

Cables

Our textile cables are supplied by our partner, Creative Cables, an Italian company specializing in high-quality lighting components. The cables are available in selected colors such as black, white, brown and white melange with a standard length of two meters. Alternative lengths and colors can be provided upon request.

Our standard cables are not DALI-compatible. Compatible cables can be ordered upon request.

Lamp Bases

The glass bases are blown using molds, with each base following the shape of its mold. Since they are hand-blown, natural variations may occur. We value the craftsmanship involved in glassmaking, where each piece carries a unique character. This aligns with Pilke’s philosophy that every lamp is a work of craftsmanship.

Our products with a metal base are powder-coated for durability and finish. Both bases and metal arms come in the standard colors white and black. Metal arms are provided by Creative-Cables, but both bases and arms can be custom-ordered in other colors for larger orders.

Lightning Guide

The choice of glass affects the quality of light, opal glass provides soft shadows and a cooler, whiter light, while clear glass creates sharper shadows and a warmer glow. The recommended LED brightness depends on the intended use, with over 600 lumens suited for workspaces, 400–600 lumens for general use, and 150–400 lumens for ambient or mood lighting.

Light sources are not included, except for Plafond 65, Plafond 45, and Verna 77, which come with an integrated LED light source.
